Thailand received over 17.5 million foreign tourists in the first half (H1) of 2024, which brought the Southeast Asian country revenues of over THB825 billion ($22.6 billion), according to Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports. The ministry also revealed that the five countries with the highest number of tourists to Thailand were China, Malaysia, India, South Korea and Russia.
In an effort to promote the country’s tourism sector, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) hosted a series of the ‘Amazing Food Festival 2024’ events to highlight the diversity of Thai food culture and elevate Thailand’s status as a world-class gastronomy tourism destination.
The TAT has also continued to promote tourism through the ‘IGNITE Thailand’s Tourism’ policy. Part of the plan includes making Nakhon Ratchasima the first and only UNESCO Triple Heritage City in Thailand, which would include Dong Phayayen-Khao Yai Forest Complex and Khorat Geopark.

In addition, Thailand and South Korea launched a campaign titled ‘2023-2024 Korea-Thailand Mutual Visit Years’ to promote tourism between the two nations.
