Russia remains among the leading participants in the global energy market despite considerable difficulties, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the plenary session of the Russian Energy Week forum (REW), reported the Russian News Agency.

“Contrary to objective difficulties; everybody is well aware of them, difficulties, in actual fact, are with everybody, all of us have our considerable difficulties. Russia nevertheless remains one of the leading energy market participants globally,” Putin said.

Oil exports to Asia-Pacific surge

National companies managed to shift deliveries of oil, petroleum products, and coal over the last two years, with friendly countries accounting for over 90 percent of Russia’s energy exports.

He added that Russia remains a reliable supplier of energy resources to the global market and plays a stabilizing role in it.

“Earlier, the share of the Asia-Pacific region in our energy exports was about 39 percent. By the end of last year, it had grown 1.5-fold and already exceeded 60 percent,” Putin stated.

He added that friendly countries to Russia currently account for more than 90 percent of its energy exports. “While their physical volume, with the exception of natural gas, which is also understandable for experts, has remained practically at the 2021 level,” Putin added.

During his speech, Putin noted that Russia will continue to develop cooperation with OPEC+ and members of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).
