India’s Cabinet has given the green light to establish a semiconductor facility in the western state of Gujarat, which will have the capacity to produce six million chips daily, as reported by Asian News International (ANI).
Chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Cabinet approved the proposal from Kaynes Semicon Pvt Ltd, aiming to foster a robust semiconductor ecosystem within the country.

The chips manufactured at this facility will serve a diverse range of industries, including industrial applications, automotive, electric vehicles, consumer electronics, telecommunications, and mobile phones. This will mark the fifth semiconductor unit in India, with construction of these facilities advancing swiftly.
Earlier this year, Prime Minister Modi stated that India is on the verge of commencing commercial semiconductor production and is poised to become a significant player in the global market, following the groundbreaking of three semiconductor plants.
